7 Ways On How To Extend And Treat Your Laptop Battery For Longer Life Time

Laptop battery

Few tips on how to treat your laptop battery for longer life time or even to save your notebook’s life time.

  1. When buying new laptop the first thing you should do is charge it for 8 – 10 hours. This initial 8 hours charging is  to achieve a floating voltage of the battery.
  2. Every time you use your laptop it’s better to keep the electrical plug on (even if the battery already fully charged) because recent modern battery already completed with Battery Control which means even if the battery full it will stop charging and your laptop automatically switched to electrical power and this will not make your battery float/bubbled.
  3. Do not use CDC (charge and discharge) ex: when the battery full you pull the adapter plug.
  4. Do not calibrate your battery often (full empty to zero), it has bad effect to battery (lifecycle count).
  5. Do not pull off your battery and exchange it with adapter. Plug the battery and adapter at the same time. If you pull the battery and suddenly you have power interruption your motherboard, LCD or laptop memory could run into short-circuit. Instead of saving on battery you’ll end up buying more expensive spare parts.
  6. Charge the battery 5 minutes before using the laptop, to allow the power adapter produces stable energy.
  7. Temperature. This is the enemy of a battery. Make sure the surrounding environment is not too hot.

Laptop battery has its own life cycle. And when it reach the life cycle your battery will begin to drop and damage (unavoidable). It’s better to buy a battery than laptop or more expensive hardware because of short circuit.
