Latest iPhone 4S threatened to be prohibited marketed in several countries due to alleged cheating the company's proprietary technology owned by Samsung Korean technology vendor. Samsung Electronics said it would seek to ban sales of newest iPhone 4S in France and Italy.
That's because Apple is said to have violated patents owned by Samsung wireless telecommunication technology. Samsung plans to file a separate motion the court order in Paris, France, and Milan, Italy. Samsung asks court to block sales of the iPhone 4S of the country's market.
Samsung claims that Apple has violated three patents related to mobile wireless telecommunications technology called Wideband Code Division Some Access (WCDMA). This technology has been considered very important for third generation (3G) mobile handsets and telecommunication networks.
In addition to the lawsuit in the two countries, Samsung is planning to file a lawsuit early in other countries after further investigation. Samsung has about 28,000 patents in the United States alone, and the number will increase to 100 thousand in the whole world.
"Samsung has many patents for wireless technology, while Apple does not have a long history in the mobile industry. Apple may end up choosing a patent cross-licensing partnership or strategic alliances with Samsung," said Kim Young-chan, an analyst at Shinhan Investment Corp.
The announcement came after Apple launched the iPhone 4S. The new Apple CEO Tim Cook introduced the iPhone upgrade, featuring dual-core processor A5 and an eight megapixel camera. The new iPhone will be launched on October 14 in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Britain, Japan and Australia.
It seems we’ll witness patents war over few years ahead, or could this be Samsung revenge for what Apple did to their Galaxy?
