Sharp Galapagos To Compete Ipad?

At CES Sharp showed the two Galapagos ebook readers hardware. The black and red colored appliances have a 5.5" and 10.8" LCD touch screen with a resolution of 1024 by 600 and 1366 x 800 pixels, respectively.

The smaller 5.5" model also has a trackball that can be operated with one hand. Since the devices use the Google Android operating system, you may consider them as tablet which you can browse and view flash animation.

They may also be compared with competitors like the Apple iPad. This is a 9.7 "with a tablet weight of 800 grams, while the 10.8" Galapagos approximately 765 grams.

According to leaked information, e-book reader that has a weight of no more than 220 grams for 5.5 inches variant. The variant of 10.8 inches weighs 765 grams.

They have lighter weight than similar products from other manufacturers because both the e-book uses electronic paper that requires no backlight. When the battery is fully charged, the first variant can be used for seven hours and the second variant around 10.5 hours.

Interestingly, Sony Corporation also launched a similar product. However, the size of the devices made by Sony is 5 and 6 inches. Both also lighter than the Sharp product, which are only 155 and 215 grams.
